Recent online shopping experiences

Just thought I'd post about recent online shopping experiences:

Zappos- Definitely my favorite online shopping experience despite the shoe not working out. I placed the order on Friday and the shoes were delivered by Monday. Unfortunately, the shoes were half a size too small so I had to send them back but, thankfully, Zappos offers free shipping for both delivery of items ordered and returns.

Jildor Shoes- Also an excellent online shopping experience--I ordered the shoes Tuesday night and received them on Thursday morning!

Lori's Shoes- Terrible--I ordered the shoes I ended up receiving through Zappos on Tuesday, followed up Thursday night about my order and received a response Friday morning indicating that they no longer had the item in stock. I sent several e-mails and left several messages (no one was ever present to pick up the phone) to make sure I wasn't being charged for the order and only received a phone call responding to my inquiry on Tuesday. We'll see how much luck I have with the order I placed with Macy's for the same shoes in the size I need.

Hautelook- a newish online sample sale business. I've placed orders with them twice and both times they've taken forever to send out my orders plus their customer service is pretty mediocre. If you do order through them, keep in mind that they can take several weeks before shipping your order!

Summer sandals

I've worn the same three pairs of summer sandals for years. It's not that I haven't purchased any sandals during this time, it's just that the other sandals I've bought have either been uncomfortable (this applies to the large majority) or not that great looking. Despite my best efforts to avoid buying uncomfortable shoes, I can't tell you how many times I've bought shoes thinking they were comfortable only to discover they were uncomfortable and frequently blister inducing after walking in them for a day--sometimes even after only one block.

I've worn my favorite pair of black sandals to the point where the foot strap broke and I had to get it repaired and it's on the verge of breaking again. Since it's still the start of the summer, I knew I would have to find a suitable replacement, and quickly, even if it meant shelling out more than what I typically spend on shoes.

I was a woman on a mission--first stop, Century 21. I actually rarely find shoes that I like at Century but I actually found a pair that was a candidate for supplementing my white sandals. Next stop, Anbar Shoes, a discount shoe store in Lower Manhattan. I had been meaning to go to Anbar for a while but had never gotten around to it until today. It is quite an experience--it's like a shoe warehouse with an almost dizzying array of discounted shoes. I found one pair of black sandals that I kind of liked and didn't want to risk not finding another so I bought them. I hadn't intended on going shoe shopping in Bloomingdale's (most of their shoes are out of my price range) but I had some time left before dinner so I checked out their shoes and actually found two sandals that I liked that weren't crazy expensive--a Tory Burch flip flop

and a Calvin Klein wedge

Unfortunately, they didn't have either shoe in my size so I had to take my search online. Sometimes I feel like everyone wants what I want and these shoes definitely reinforced that--I must've looked at all the websites that carried these shoes and only one of each carried either shoe in my size. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that they're comfortable!
