After four anxiety filled weeks of waiting for the results of the co-op appraisal, we finally heard the bad news today--the co-op was way overvalued and even the mortgage our mortgage brokers will offer us, which is substantially below the price we agreed to pay for the co-op, is well above the prices that similarly sized co-ops in the building sold for late last year. Obviously this isn't good news but Adam and I were plagued with doubts from the day we placed the offer so this may not necessarily be terrible news. The next week will be filled with more uncertainty and anxiety though as we see if the seller is willing to renegotiate to the selling price to the mortgage we're being offered since we have extremely mixed feelings about whether we want the co-op or not. I'm siding towards not but I guess we'll see.

Nature strikes again

Just as memories of the last flood were fading and we were starting to forget why we wanted to move from our apartment, mother nature let loose yesterday and our apartment got flooded once again. This is the third time our apartment has gotten flooded from heavy rain and the affected area was even larger this time so that 3/4's of our living room was affected along with any boxes that happened to be in the affected area (which we have a lot of). This is so extremely frustrating--I can't wait to get the hell out of here but we're still waiting to hear the outcome of the appraisal on the co-op we bid on which is the thing I've been most nervous about.

Thanks to Carlos, btw, for the blog upgrade!

Wow, I would've loved to see this (either from a car or not too close of course)--Adam and I don't live that far from where the incident took place either. Best line:
"It's like, you know, you could see a big dog run by, but a live tiger on the move! It was awesome!" said Mary Mason, 59, of Crown Heights, one of more than 100 members of the Berean Baptist Church of Brooklyn at their annual choir picnic in the park.
