Weekend

My first weekend without my honey in six years! While Adam's been soaking up the warmth of Florida (visiting his grandfather) I've been shivering scrambling to find warm clothes here in NYC. I have plenty of clothes to cover the mid 30 and up range but, unfortunately, I've never had enough clothes to cover the really cold days, such as we've been having for the last two weeks. I was hoping to find some extra warm sweaters this winter but I've had absolutely no luck these past few months. This store that had a fantastic sale last winter was finally having the sale again starting this weekend. I woke up before Adam left and headed over there really early (too early, really) and had the whole store to myself for close to an hour. Last year they had beautiful sweaters, cashmere sweaters at really great prices--this year I didn't even find a sweater that worth trying on. I walked out of the store with one shirt, bought partly out of guilt from spending so long in the store in hopes of finding something. I made my way down to Union Square where I picked up a fantastic pastry from Tisserie, tiger's eye I think it was called, comparable to the few pastries I had in Paris, and then hopped on the L to Williamsburg. I picked up a few things at Beacon's, where the size 0 cashier sported a hairstyle that must be a neighborhood creation which basically consisted of a ribbon through the hair intended to make it look fashionably unkempt. The rest of Saturday was tough as I really missed my honey.

The shopping excursion on Saturday, unfortunately, turned up no sweaters and as I've also been wearing the same boots nearly every day for the past few months I decided I should probably try to find another pair so I decided to go to Woodbury Common. I only found one warm sweater and, unfortunately, I missed out on the opportunity to take advantage of a really good sale on boots at the Barney's outlet (they'd run out of my size in all the boots I wanted) but the winter sales were really good and I ended up buying way too much. So much, in fact, that I entertained the idea of taking a cab from the subway stop because I was carrying so much damn stuff. I snagged a new bookbag (I love bookbags but find it really hard to find bookbags I like that aren't super expensive), three pairs of shoes, three sweaters, some clothes for Adam, and chicory coffee in hopes of being able to make one of my favorite treats, Vietnamese coffee. All in all, a productive (if wallet-damaging) weekend.
