Greenpoint-Williamsburg

Like many people I'm sure, I have mixed feelings about my old neighborhood. I enjoy going to Williamsburg for the restaurants, bars, and some of the stores but I also hate the scenesters and know what the implications of the new restaurants and the people that attracted them there are (I did my thesis on gentrification and displacement in the Southside). I'm also quite grumpy about the fact that neither of the two main vintage clothing stores in the neighborhood have taken any of the clothes I've tried selling as of late. But I really enjoyed this weekend's Renegade Craft Fair, despite the fact that half the female Williamsburg population seemed to be there yesterday. But when I read about this, I couldn't believe it--this is only a few doors down from my old apartment in Greenpoint. Even despite the recent rezoning, I just can't imagine luxury lofts on my old block in Greenpoint. Although I guess if it happened happened in South Williamsburg, I guess I shouldn't be that surprised.
